Hanging up my blogging hat.....

Summer is here and my sewing has slowed to spend more time with my children.  This has lead me to contemplate whether or not to continue blogging.  I think that I have finally grown tired of the sewing/blogging cycle.   I will keep my blog online though.  While going through breast cancer, I created a tab where I journaled my thoughts, feelings, treatments, surgeries, etc.  I want to keep this available just in case anyone finds my experience helpful to them.  I will continue leaving reviews on Pattern Review.com, so look for me there!  I'm still a ways away from finishing my son's American Ships Quilt, but when I do, I will definitely post a picture of it here.  I have been working on it for years and looking forward to its completion.

Thank you for all your comments and following me on my sewing and breast cancer journey.

Thanks for stopping by ~ Shirley

    1. I kept thinking, "how long will I keep doing this?" I started in 2012 and really, really enjoyed it. Life moves on and you get busy in other ways! I keep seeing all these FB memories popping up and realizing how incredibly fast the kids are growing up. With their growth spurts, it seems almost counterproductive to sew too much for them. LOL Plus they lean to wanting store bought, but that's okay too. I'll still sew but want to engage in other things too. I'm sure once I have grandchildren, I'll be back to endless sewing of cute little clothes! ha ha

    1. Thanks Pam! I'll still be seeing you on your blog!! I need to slow my sewing down if I am every going to finish my son's quilt. LOL It's so hard to make that a priority when I want to make clothing instead.

    1. Thank you Cheryl. I just kept thinking realistically how long did I want to do this. I use to love posting something, but then I felt like it was something I had to do instead of something I wanted to do. Silly I know, but I figured it was a sign that I needed to do something else.

  5. When it becomes a chore it is no longer fun, and that puts stress on your sewing time. I am imagining how freeing it will be for you to just sew and not worry about the blogging aspect :D It makes me want to hang up my hat too!

    1. You hit the nail on the head Kristin! I feel freed and no longer under pressure that every make has to be the real deal. LOL I started putting too much pressure on myself for no reason!

    1. Thanks Carolyn! I'm working on your lovely Paprika Jade skirt now--you continue to inspire me! My children are growing up so fast and will be through with school before I know it. I decided to step back and slow my sewing pace a little. I definitely want to explore some knitting. The sweaters you make are so beautiful.
