Kalle Shirtdress

Closet Case Patterns
Size 6

This is my second Kalle.  For construction details, refer to this post.

I saw this fabric at Joann's and the bolt said, "Modal."  It was in the denim section and 60% off when I bought it.  When I got home, I had to look up what modal fabric means--basically a super soft fiber made from beech trees.  I have been wanting to make another Kalle ever since my first one, but wanted something I could wear without a slip.  This modal has a nice drape and weight to it.

I inverted the pleat this time which I like a lot better.

I found my fabric to be slightly thick when hemming, so I encased the bottom of my dress within the bias tape instead of flipping it completely to the underside.  I love the unexpected results of doing it that way.

I forgot to mention on my original post that I did move the pocket up.  The placement marks on the pattern had it a little too low for me.  I recommend checking that before you sew it on.  I actually had to unpick mine because not only did I forget to put it higher, I also put it on the opposite side.

Well, I ran out of ambition with my MMM posts ha ha.  I don't always leave the house every day, but I had 2 very busy weeks so it worked out well that I was grabbing for me made's daily.  Maybe next year I will do better. :)

Now I have to get busy and pack up my sewing room to prepare for our move.  I had to squeeze in this dress though since it will be a few weeks before I can jump back into sewing.  Next post will be from Florida!

MMM Week 5/6 - 5/12

This is my first time ever participating in Me Made May!  I honestly didn't think that I had enough me made items to wear day in and day out--apparently I was wrong.  Another thing that kept me from including myself was that I didn't understand the whole "hashtag" thing on Instagram.  I've seen them, but I didn't understand how they worked.  I'm still a little behind the times, old school thinking of "isn't that the pound sign?" ha ha

Here is my week with my "Me Made" clothing:

The above is a new make and unblogged.  No need to blog because I've made a few now and it is a very simple make.  It is definitely a TNT of tee shirt dresses for me.  This is the Pattern 4 Pirates Favorite Tee shirt/dress pattern.

My son and I went to lunch on this day.  I'm wearing a pair of Jalie Jeans, slimmed from the knee down, and embroidered with butterflies at the bottom leg.  My top is McCalls 7391.

Darn you Oklahoma for getting cold again!  Above I'm wearing Angela Wolf Delila Shirt that I used dye remover.  It is such a fun way to make your fabric all your own.  I paired it with my Jalie Jeans in black denim.  I've made a few jackets now and this one is my all-time favorite--Ottobre Georgia Coat.

The real me in glasses, which most times I remove for pictures.  However, I love my new glasses because I can barely feel them on my face and got them where they are tinted with the sun!  So, I'll be wearing them now most likely. LOL  I'm wearing my P4P Favorite Tee but this time at a tunic length with band.  Ottobre leggings 5/2016 #9.  My jacket is the Kelly Anorak.

Inside picture with hair pulled up.  I have to say taking MMM pics is very low key and easy to not worry about lighting, background or makeup!  I'm wearing my black denim Jalie jeans with the Jalie Dolman top.  I have so many tops made from this pattern.  It truly is one of my favorite patterns.

Still cold...I thought it was supposed to be summer??  Angela Wolf Delila top with a cowl neck that I added.  Jeans are Jalie.

Ah, the sun!  This was Mother's Day in front of Target.  I'm wearing another P4P tunic length, banded top with gray Ottobre leggings.  Cardigan is Jalie Cocoon.

Well, that sums up my first ever week of Me Made Made 2019.  I hope you had a successful week of MMM if you are participating.  What this has shown me is I have plenty of outfits to wear that I have made without even adding a RTW piece with still more to come!
