Alterations: Forward Shoulder, 1/2" swayback, shortened 2.25 inches
Fabric: Purple Seamstress Cotton Lycra
I'm pretty happy with my newest Jalie make! It's a great summer outfit and as far as comfort level, it's an A+ for me. The dress option in stripes really caught my eye, so I knew exactly what kind of fabric I wanted to shop for. I highly recommend Purple Seamstress; their solid cotton lycra options are amazing. I used two-tone charcoal with white stripes, which coordinates with their two-tone charcoal lycra. I love how the burgundy wraps around the front for a bit of color splash.
I held the pattern pieces up to me and could easily tell that I needed to shorten it by a couple of inches. That is pretty typical for me since I am 5'1. However, when I make the top, I think I will leave that at the pattern length.
I thought the back opening on the top view was interesting, so I decided to use that on my dress as well. I wore my lacy Jalie 2563 with it.
Tip: I used a thin strip of knit interfacing at the CB seam to stabilize for easier top stitching.
I would like to make either a shirt or dress without the back opening, increasing the CB seam allowance so I can use my coverstitch machine giving it an athletic style stitch in a contrasting thread.
